School Visit A Day At The Museum

Within our galleries and corridors lie visually arresting larger-than-life displays which have, since our establishment, mesmerised children and added incredible dimensions to in-class history lessons.

Our young visitors can:

  • Marvel at a giant head of the deity Aravan;
  • Get a glimpse into the life of a Chettiar family in Tamil Nadu in the form of a towering 19th century Chettinad doorway which once graced their palatial residence;
  • Gaze in awe at the stunning facade of a 19th century mosque all the way from Multan, a city in Punjab, Pakistan! Featuring bolts of cobalt and turquoise, it rises through Levels 3 and 4 of our centre.

With delightful treasures and sparkling gems at every turn, the Indian Heritage Centre is the perfect spot for children and students to spend their day. They can trace the journeys of Singapore's Indian community and the wider diasporas in Southeast Asia, immerse themselves in the lives and times of the city-state’s outstanding pioneers, and indulge in futuristic holograms and interactive exhibits.

Ignite passions and spark a love for heritage beyond the classroom with a school visit at our centre. Educators will be able to opt for guided or self-guided tours of our 5 permanent galleries, and tap our range of educational workshops and interactive learning materials for a holistic immersion into Indian culture.
