Indian Heritage Centre, Level 2

Admission fee to Interactive Play Space: Free

(Admission charges to galleries may apply, click this link for more info)

Join us as we bring you on a cultural journey through traditional Indian dance, music and storytelling. Recommended for the whole family for the year-end holiday.

Be greeted by Navarasa, the nine emotions that are commonly used during Indian dance, music and theatre performances. Put on your best expression and take a picture reflecting the emotions!

Explore three traditional Indian dance forms – Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi – through a series of videos. Follow the movements of the on-screen dancers and watch your shadows come to life inside our colourful dance pods!

Learn about ‘ta ka di mi’, a traditional way of expressing rhythm used in classical Indian music. Played on a mridangam, a traditional South Indian instrument, the beats turn on the colourful lights on the circular structure. Mimic the rhythm by tapping your hands and stomping our feet as you try to “catch the lights” on the structure.

Be a part of stories from Indian folklore "Krishna and the Fruit Seller" and "Hanuman and the Sun". Perform scenes with the  props and magnetic backdrop provided or create your own story!
