Beats of Tradition - Tabla & Mridangam Junior Workshop 25 May 2024 | 4pm – 4.45pm 26 May 2024 | 3pm – 3.45pm Activity Room, IHC Level 2 $15 per child, https://ihccs24percussion.peatix.com Experience the pulsating rhythms of Indian percussion like never before! Join us as we journey through the captivating beats of the tabla and mridangam – iconic instruments representing the rich musical heritage of India. From exploring basic rhythms to adapting beats for classical and contemporary music, participants will immerse themselves in the dynamic world of percussion. Introduction to Kalaripayattu - Junior Martial Arts Workshop 25 May 2024 | 2.30pm – 3.15pm 26 May 2024 | 4.30pm – 5.15pm Activity Room, IHC Level 2 Ticket: $15 per child, https://ihccs24martialarts.peatix.com Explore the traditional roots of Kalaripayattu in our dynamic 45-minutes junior martial arts workshop! The workshop will delve into two distinct styles: Vadakan Kalaripayattu (Northern style), Thekan Kalaripayattu (Southern style). Discover the art of Meipayattu of the Northern style, that emulates animal postures to enhance flexibility and coordination. Learn the art of Chuvadus, a Southern style renowned for its multi-directional attacks and defences, fostering spatial awareness and agility. No Kalaripayattu training is complete without weapons practice. In the final segment of the workshop, our practitioners will introduce you to Kolthari (wooden weapons) with a focus on the fundamental movements of Kettukari (5-foot wooden staff).
